Matthew Gaetano is an associate professor of history at Hillsdale College. A 2005 Hillsdale alumnus, he returned to his alma mater to join the History Department faculty in 2011 after receiving his master’s and Ph.D. degrees in European history from the University of Pennsylvania. At Hillsdale, he teaches the Western and American Heritage core classes as well as courses on the Renaissance, the Reformation, early modern European and global Christianity, and modern European intellectual history. His publications have generally focused on the reception of Plato, the Church Fathers, and medieval scholastic theology in Renaissance and Reformation philosophy and theology.
