About this Event
33 E College Street, Hillsdale, MI 49242
This concert features a broad range of sonorities; from sacred selections of the Renaissance to contemporary concert pieces; from anchors of the Western canon to folk idioms from across the globe. “This is truly a concert with something for everybody,” says the choir’s conductor, Visiting Professor Brad Holmes.
Known for his varied approach to style and tone Dr. Holmes has designed a program that explores a wide range of sounds. “Our goal is to take the audience on a sound journey while meditating on various aspects of the human condition,” says Holmes. “The choir has quickly adapted many of the sounds required by these varied pieces. The students have been fearless as we’ve explored the sonic terrain. We’ve discovered several different vocal sonorities in a very short time.”
The concert is broken into four sections that Holmes calls ‘mini-themes’:
“Psalms and Hymns”, “Of Things Unseen”, “Sing!” and “Endings/New Beginnings”.
The 70-minute performance runs without intermission. No tickets are required for admission.
