The Threepenny Opera book and lyrics by Bertolt Brecht, music by Kurt Weill
Tower Players and John E.N. & Dede Howard Department of Music Production
The infamous Macheath takes us through the seedy underground of London in this classic work of musical theatre, one that questions and challenges corruption and shady deals in contemporary society. Based on John Gay’s Beggar’s Opera (1728), this jazz-inspired collaboration between Brecht and Weill spawned one of the most recorded songs in history, “Mack the Knife”. Directed by James Brandon; James Holleman, Music Director.
